Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay, is the capital city of the state of Maharahstra, India. It is the most populous city in India and the fifth most populous city in the world. Here are some interesting things we did, saw, enjoyed and learned from while in Mumbai.

1. We checked out the activities that were going on daily around Mumbai city such as the street barbers, sev puri wala (sev puri seller) and bamboo basket making by people who live by the streets.

2. We took the chance of passing through the Bandra-Worli Sea Link (officially the Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link) when 4 of 8 lanes of the bridge was opened to public in 30 June 2009.

3. A profusion of vibrant colours, textures and textiles, Mumbai is absolutely the fabric lovers’ paradise. Do check out Mangaldas Market and Manish Market located in the southern part of Mumbai (South Mumbai).

 4. At least once a month we would dine at the Global Fusion Restaurant, located on the 3rd Floor, Link Square Mall, Bandra, Mumbai. This buffet style restaurant offers a spectacular ambiance for the customers and a massive variety of Pan Asian cuisine – sushi, sashimi, teppanyaki, tempura, chinese dim sum and dumplings, crab stir fried in pepper sauce plus an assortment of desserts. What more, the food are halal too. No beef and pork are served here.

5. We took a tour around Bandra city once in a while. It is a suburb area, hip and yet quaint, that attracts many expatriates and locals. Check out the Pali Market at Pali Hill for some kangkung (water spinach), chinese cabbage, red chillies, kailan, asparagus, etc, most of which will not be available at other supermarkets.
