Details:

The Haji Ali Dargah is one of the most recognizable landmarks of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It was constructed in 1431 in memory of a rich Muslim merchant-cum-saint, Sayed Peer Haji Ali Shah Bukhari who gave up all his worldly possessions before making a pilgrimage to Mekah. He was believed to be buried inside the mosque, which is known as Haji Ali Mosque. Located on an islet off the coast of Worli in southern part of the city, together the mosque and dargah (tomb) make a exquisite example of traditional Indian-Islamic architecture. People of all religions and faiths alike visit the dargah to get the blessings of the legendary saint (non-Muslims are also allowed to visit the dargah). It is advisable to visit the dargah only during low tide as the causeway gets submerged during high tides.
