Purpose: Stayed in Desaru for 10 days to carry out some work in Pengerang project site, Johor. Managed to visit Tanjung Balau while I was there.

Route: KUALA LUMPUR – Desaru JOHOR (9 nights) – KUALA LUMPUR
Traveling Method & Time:
Kuala Lumpur – Desaru = by car (≈ 6 hours)
Desaru – Kuala Lumpur = by car (≈ 6 hours)
Desaru – Pengerang JOHOR = by car (≈ 45 minutes)
Desaru – Tanjung Balau JOHOR by car (≈ 10 minutes)
Details:
Desaru is a coastal resort area in Southeastern Johor, Peninsular Malaysia. It is located about 2km from the small town of Bandar Penawar, which serves as the area’s transport hub. There was not much going on in Desaru when I was there except for a few aging resorts and a construction of a marine park which is still ongoing. However, Desaru is a favourite weekend escape for residents of Singapore and Batam, Indonesia who come to enjoy its attractive beaches and splendid golf courses.
The increase of development at this area is very much anticipated in the future with the opening of the new Senai – Pasir Gudang – Desaru Expressway in 2011.
At Desaru, my colleagues and I stayed at two hotels – Lotus Desaru Beach Resort & Pulai Desaru Resort.
